What's New?
Recent
changes or additions to the site
Jan 2008 - Catch
History
Page updated to show the 2007 weekly catch breakdown for the Loch; it
also, for the first time, now breaks the figures down by location. A 17-year
chart shows annual sea-trout totals for Loch and River, to put the current
figures into perspective. And there are some notes on what happened during
the 2007 season.
Jan 2008 - New
format for Availability page
This page is now published as a PDF document instead of HTML. As long
as your computer has the Acrobat Reader installed, you should find this
easier to navigate and more legible. It's also possible to print it out
with proper page formatting.
Feb 2006 - The
End of the Line
A selection of comments made by reviewers about Charles Clover's important
book about marine fisheries, plus a link to Amazon in case you haven't
already read it - or want to give it to a friend.
Jan 2006 - Fishing
map
In 2005 a completely revised version of the Loch Hope map was unveiled
by Peter Lock and Gordon Watson. It now covers the whole loch, including
the South End, and is more extensively and accurately annotated. Initially,
the new map was only available in printed form, but we finally got round
to putting it on the site. You can either see it in sections as web pages,
or download a PDF of the whole thing for A4 printing.
Jan 2006 - Sir
Max Backs the SCA
Sir Max Hastings gave a rousing speech to a fundraising dinner for the
Scottish Countryside Alliance in October 2005. He talked about how politicians,
particularly in Scotland, are actively fostering opposition to one of
mankind's most time-honoured and (you might have thought) most easily-justified
activities: the pursuit of edible game. Here's what he said in full.
